The 2025 Jubilee Year, which is known as the Year of Jubilee 2025: Pilgrims of Hope, is a Catholic celebration that runs from December 24, 2024 to December 23, 2025.
Pope Francis stated in his February 2022 letter announcing the Jubilee 2025: “We must fan the flame of hope that has been given us and help everyone to gain new strength and certainty by looking to the future with an open spirit, a trusting heart and far-sighted vision. The forthcoming Jubilee can contribute greatly to restoring a climate of hope and trust as a prelude to the renewal and rebirth that we so urgently desire; that is why I have chosen as the motto of the Jubilee, Pilgrims of Hope..."
JUBILEE YEAR 2025 The logo for the 2025 Jubilee Year, Pilgrims of Hope, has multiple meanings:
FOUR FIGURES
The logo features four stylized figures from the four corners of the world, embracing each other to symbolize the unity of all people.
CROSS
The cross in the logo is shaped like a sail, which is a symbol of Christian hope. The cross also ends in the shape of an anchor, another symbol of hope. The cross bends down towards humanity, offering hope and certainty.
WAVES
The rough waves beneath the figures symbolize that life's journey is not always smooth. ANCHOR
The anchor is a metaphor for hope. In maritime jargon, the "hope anchor" is the spare anchor used to stabilize a ship during storms. MOTTO The motto for the 2025 Jubilee Year is Peregrinantes in Spem, which means "Pilgrims of hope". It is written in green at the bottom of the logo.
The Jubilee Year is a time to re-establish relationships with God, with each other, and with creation.
(The logo was designed by Giacomo Trevisani, a young graphic designer from Puglia. He imagined people from all over the world moving towards a common future and a cross that represents Jesus).
